ONE HUP TRANSFORMATION

This year marks the culmination of the One HUP transformation plan. In October 2021, the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania (HUP) will open HUP East, a 1.5 million square foot patient pavilion that incorporates innovative design and technology to deliver world-class clinical care.

Our team set out to develop a comprehensive strategic communications plan that would give voice to the leadership team, promote change activities, and engage all employees impacted by this transformation.

INTERVENTIONAL SUPPORT CENTER

Penn Medicine opened the new Interventional Support Center (ISC), the largest instrument processing and surgical supply preparation facility in the country. At 109,000 square feet, the ISC effectively and efficiently reprocesses instruments in a high-quality, cost-effective way.

Part of the Change & Communications Workgroup, I aligned with change initiatives to develop and implement a communications plan to inform, engage, recognize, and educate staff. Working with my PR and editorial colleagues to ensure external audiences were in the know.

PENN MEDICINE EXPERIENCE

The Penn Medicine Experience Standards (and Definition) were developed to reflect the inherent values that are unique to our workforce.

The standards help unify the 11 entities that make up Penn Medicine–sending a message that clinical care and service excellence are the same no matter where you seek care.

Every year the health system celebrates Penn Medicine Experience Week that illuminates a specific standard, and we develop an overarching communications plan and internal marketing campaign that supports entities' local initiatives and activities.

ACTION FOR CULTURAL TRANSFORMATION (ACT)

The Action for Cultural Transformation seeks to eliminate structural injustice across Penn Medicine and the communities we serve. Penn Medicine stands united as an anti-racist, equitable, diverse, and inclusive organization.

Partnering with the Office of Inclusion, Diversity, and Equity, my team developed a comprehensive communications strategy that aligns to the strategic roadmap reflecting the unfiltered feedback of more than 5,000 Penn Medicine faculty, staff and students. Calendar of communications also follows significant milestones in history to provide depth and extended meaning with the organziation's work.
